Bogotá Small Businesses Confront Headwinds This Year
Growth in company numbers has not erased the pressures on micro and small enterprises that rely on targeted city and chamber programs for survival.
How we reported this

Bogotá counted 496,686 active companies in the region as of November 2025, after 81,372 new businesses opened between January and November, a 6 percent rise from the same stretch in 2024.
The increase arrives as many grassroots operators still operate with thin margins and limited access to capital, making the timing of fresh support programs especially relevant for the sector.
City programs target micro-enterprises
The Mayor’s Office launched Bogotá Local, directing nearly 50 billion pesos toward two direct-grant schemes. Local Impulse supplies 3 million pesos per venture while Microempresa Local 2.0 distributes 10 million pesos to selected micro-enterprises. The Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, which already serves more than 397,000 active MSMEs, added over 600 free services for business strengthening and digital marketing advice.
Those services reached more than 150,800 people by November 2025. The chamber’s site lists the assistance as a direct response to the daily operating difficulties reported by small firms across the capital.
Global recognition alongside local strain
The International Chamber of Commerce named Bogotá its Latin American hub for an entrepreneurship center, one of nine worldwide sites, and the city now ranks first in Colombia and 44th globally for ease of starting a company. Concentrations remain strongest in fintech, e-commerce and retail technology.
Even with that ranking, the volume of new registrations has not removed the need for cash injections and advisory services that the chamber and city hall continue to expand. Operators seeking next steps can review current grant rounds and free training calendars on the chamber’s site at ccb.org.co or the Mayor’s Office portal at bogota.gov.co.
