Bogotá Officials Advance Metro Line and Road Projects as Part of Mobility Plans

Road Expansions and Central Station Hub

Four mega road projects are being implemented: expansion of Carrera Séptima, southern ALO, new Calle 13, and Autopista Norte expansion. A $255 million privately financed Bogotá Central Station hub is also planned to connect three TransMilenio lines while adding 234,000 m² of commercial and residential space. City statements have pointed to these as measures to improve access and integrate transport modes.

Funding Status and Project Execution

By January 2025, 54.56% of nearly $58.7 billion in infrastructure projects had been contracted, alongside 113 mobility projects currently executed by the IDU. This figure has been cited in updates from officials tracking progress on the broader portfolio.

Additional Aerial and Rail Connections

Three aerial cable systems are planned as TransMiCable extensions serving San Cristóbal, Potosí, and Reencuentro-Monserrate in areas that are difficult to access. Two commuter rail lines, the Western and Northern, are also part of the outlined plans. Officials have described these additions as ways to reach neighbourhoods with limited current options.
