Bogotá recorded an average congestion level of 69.6 percent across 2025 according to the TomTom Traffic Index. This figure stood 7.7 percentage points above the level measured in 2024. Drivers in the metropolitan area covered an average of 4.7 kilometres in 15 minutes, down 0.3 kilometres from the prior year.
Scope of the measurements
The figures cover the full road network inside both the central city and the wider metro area. Data collection ran continuously throughout the year and drew on more than 3.65 trillion kilometres of anonymised trips. Rush-hour patterns
Morning rush-hour travel for a 10-kilometre trip took 35 minutes and 30 seconds at an average speed of 16.9 kilometres per hour and an 87.8 percent congestion level. Evening rush-hour travel for the same distance required 42 minutes and 51 seconds at 14 kilometres per hour with congestion reaching 124.1 percent. Across both rush periods drivers lost a total of 153 hours to traffic, equivalent to six days and nine hours and 20 hours and 26 minutes more than in 2024.
Peak disruption days
The single worst day for travel occurred on 17 December 2025, when congestion climbed to 107 percent. At 6 pm that day drivers managed only 2.6 kilometres in 15 minutes while congestion hit 201 percent. An ordinary 10-kilometre journey on an average day consumed 31 minutes and 45 seconds.
These measurements supply a clear baseline for understanding daily travel demands on Bogotá roads. Residents and transport planners can use the documented times and speeds to anticipate delays on typical weekdays and to compare conditions against earlier periods. The TomTom report offers no forward projections, yet the recorded increase in time lost relative to 2024 indicates that similar patterns may persist without changes to road use or infrastructure capacity.
