Bogotá has allocated 23.7 trillion pesos to education under the 2024-2027 development plan to meet 28 specific goals for nearly 800,000 students and 35,000 teachers in the official system.

Funding Allocation and Scale

The total figure covers initiatives across early childhood through higher education levels. It includes support for the policy titled Una Educación que te responde, which sets targets for new slots and infrastructure work.

Early Education and Enrollment Data

Plans expand early education to admit children starting at age 3, with 50 schools already formalizing preschool programs and 42,800 spots available for initial cycles. The policy also prioritizes 30,000 new early childhood slots for ages 0-5 that bundle health, nutrition and recreation services.

Device Distribution and Learning Outcome Numbers

To address gaps where 40 percent of students lack devices or internet, the district targets delivery of devices and connectivity to at least 100,000 vulnerable students selected by poverty, rural location and disability criteria. Current outcomes show 43 percent of graduates unable to perform basic math operations and 33 percent lacking fundamental reading comprehension.

School Coverage and Infrastructure Targets

The plan seeks to raise single-day school coverage to 62 percent while intervening in 92 school environments that involve 147 institutions to improve safety, health and cultural access. For the 2027 school year, public school enrollment processes are being defined through citizen participation, and 2026 infrastructure targets have already been met.

National reforms provide at least 70 percent of real GDP growth annually for public higher education funding, with Bogotá receiving a 211 billion peso allocation for expansion at Universidad Pedagógica Nacional.
