How we reported this

Bogotá’s Mayor’s Office has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Kaspersky to advance digital literacy, threat intelligence sharing, capacity building and critical infrastructure protection, including citizen awareness campaigns based on the company’s global research on cyber risks.
Partnerships With Technology Firms
The agreement focuses on practical steps such as sharing threat information and running awareness campaigns that draw on Kaspersky’s research. Officials are using the partnership to coordinate efforts across public entities and to deliver training that reaches both government staff and residents. The work aligns with the city’s broader priority on digital security through ongoing digital literacy initiatives for citizens and technical training for public officials and ICT teams.
Chamber of Commerce Program for SMEs
The Bogotá Chamber of Commerce launched a free, unlimited cybersecurity program for local SMEs. The program covers five stages-USB security, password authentication, software patching, phishing prevention and cloud security-and provides expert guidance from the Cyber Readiness Institute. Businesses can access the training without limits, allowing them to address common vulnerabilities in a structured sequence.
District Incident Response Team
Bogotá is implementing the CSIRT Distrital, the District Cybersecurity Incident Response Team, to monitor, manage and respond to cyber incidents across district entities. This team operates alongside the citywide cybersecurity strategy established under Decreto 472 of 2024. The combination of the response team and the decree gives the city a formal structure for handling incidents while continuing awareness and training activities.
Upcoming Awareness Event
A cybersecurity awareness symposium titled “Cybersecurity as a Motor of Trust in Telecommunications” is scheduled for August 14, 2026. The event is intended to raise collective awareness of digital risks among public, private and academic stakeholders. It forms part of the ongoing communication of timely awareness strategies that the city has identified as a priority.
Organizations and residents can participate in the Chamber of Commerce program or attend the August symposium to apply the practices being promoted through these coordinated efforts. Details on registration and session schedules are available through the participating entities.
